ABOUT

Carole Berk was born and raised in the New York area.  She attended Wheaton College in Norton, Mass and received her BS from Southern Conn. College in 1962.  She has been in the D.C. area since 1969.

In the late 70′s Carole founded Botanical Interiors an interior landscaping firm. She installed plants in commercial and residential spaces and maintained them on a contractual basis.

In the late 80′s Carole opened a Gallery in Bethesda.  The Carole A. Berk Gallery specialized in 20th century decorative art. She was the foremost dealer in Clarice Cliff pottery, Keith Murray pottery and other English designers.  In addition she specialized in Mexican silver from Taxco circa 1930-70. In 1994 she co-authored the book Mexican Silver, published by Schiffer. The book is in its 4th printing.

Her other areas of collection included bakelite, rattan furniture, English glass and other European decorative art.

During the 90’s Carole exhibited at various Modernism shows in New York City, Chicago, Miami, Detroit and Los Angeles. The Gallery closed in 2001.

Carole now buys and sells through her website. She has trimmed her interests and now majors first and foremost in Mexican Silver and minors in Bakelite, Keith Murray ceramics and glass and other types of decorative art.

Lately Carole has found a new interest in what she calls “couture” costume jewelry by such designers as Givenchy, YSL, Chanel, Ann Klein and others. She also shows wonderful unsigned pieces.

The online Gallery has a wide price range in all collections.  If you are looking for something in particular please let us know and we will do our best to find it.
