Our Couture Collection started out as a side line to our Gallery. For over 20 years we have majored, so to speak, in Mexican Silver jewelry and hollow ware. I co-authored the Mexican Silver book which was first published in 1994. Since then it has been revised 4 times.
Recently I was looking for another collection to add to our online gallery, since we closed our store front gallery in Bethesda. I had bought and sold costume jewelry through the years, but it was never a passion for me. Not too long ago I began to notice costume jewelry that was manufactured c 1970-90 or thereabouts. It was chunky gold designs, Lucite, resin and rhinestones and it had such names on it as some of the designers whose clothes I was wearing. Thus began my search, my education and yes, ultimately, a passion for the likes of jewelry by Givenchy,Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Sonia Rykiel, Ann Klein and others. I love the boldness, the likeness to fine jewelry, and the hunt for these pieces. You never know where you will find them. And when you do, it is like eating a piece of chocolate that you have been craving.
I have met many wonderful people in my hunt who have become friends and mentors. I have acquired wonderful jewels that I love to pass along to those who love them.
